The Human Rights Ombudsperson met with ombudsmen colleagues from many countries in Italy
As we previously informed, the international conference on "The Role of the Ombudsman in the world: between reality and opportunity" was held in Rome, Italy, on September 21-22, 2023. The Italian Head Ombudsman, who hosted the event, created a special platform for ombudsmen from more than 50 countries to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences. The event was attended not only by ombudsmen, but also by the members of parliament, representatives of the judiciary, international organisations and national institutions involved in the protection of human rights.

On the second day of the international conference, the experience on human rights protection at the times of the global crisis and the right to health of such countries as Italy, Greece, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom and Brazil was studied and discussions were held on issues raised. A video address by Akmal Saidov, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan was made.

During her visit to Italy, Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights(Ombudsman) met with the ombudsmen of Bulgaria, Belgium, Greece, Moldova, Turkey, Burkina Faso, Morocco, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Serbia, the United Kingdom and Canada.

At the bilateral meetings, the sides discussed mutual exchange of experience in the field of digital technologies and new mechanisms, which are introduced in the activities of ombudsmen for ensuring human rights, strengthening cooperation in the protection of the rights of our citizens residing in foreign countries, capacity building of employees.

Ombudsperson Feruza Eshmatova also met with Chris Field, President of the International Ombudsman Institute, Ombudsman of Western Australia and Caroline Martin, Head of the Venice Commission and discussed possibilities of further cooperation.
