Yesterday, an international conference on the theme "Human Rights - an Important Factor in the Sustainable Development of Countries" dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the institution of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) took place in the capital city.
The issue of ensuring human rights does not lose its relevance, regardless of whether a person is at large or serving a sentence. Convicts and prisoners also have certain rights established by law. In particular, Article 28 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes that persons deprived of their liberty have the right to humane treatment and respect for the honor and dignity inherent in the human person.

Particular attention is paid to the functions of the United Nations Office of Human Rights in promoting a human rights-based approach in the fight against human trafficking.
