Convicts held in the colony-settlement of Karakalpakstan underwent a medical examination

On April 3 this year, at the initiative of the regional representative of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a medical examination of convicts and prisoners was organized in colony-settlement No. 27 of the Republic of Karakalpakstan together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The process of the medical examination was observed by representatives of the Nukus department of the Legal Advisory Bureau NGO "Madad" and the media.

Therapists, cardiologists, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, neuropathologists, endocrinologists, surgeons from medical associations under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Karakalpakstan took part in the preventive medical examination. They also underwent ultrasound, X-ray and electrocardiographic examinations.

During the inspection, convicts and prisoners underwent a full medical examination and received appropriate treatment and necessary recommendations.

Prisoners with health problems were recommended to be treated on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

In addition, the regional representative of the Ombudsman in the Republic of Karakalpakstan held individual conversations with convicts in the colony.
