The Ombudsman received the appeals of our compatriots in Istanbul
On May 14, 2022, during the visit of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova to the Republic of Turkey, a reception was organized for citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan living in the country. The reception was attended by the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul and an employee of the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

At the meeting, citizens were informed about the ongoing human rights reforms in Uzbekistan, in particular, about the activities of the Authorized Person for Human Rights, its legal framework and powers.

During the meeting, our compatriots were also informed about the establishment of the Association of Ombudsmen and National human rights institutions of the Turkic States.

During the meeting, citizens turned to the Ombudsman and the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul on education, employment, healthcare, financial assistance, and citizenship issues.

It is important to note that in 2021, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed  between the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and the Ombudsman of the Turkish Parliament. Within the framework of the document, the issues of considering the appeals of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan living in Turkey and taking measures to eliminate their problems are also defined.

During the reception, citizens were explained the procedure for applying to the Ombudsman online, and that applications and complaints will be considered in cooperation with the Ombudsman of Turkey.
