Ombudsman met with Egyptian International observers
On 23 October this year, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human rights (ombudsman) Eshmatova Feruza and the Authorized Person for Children's Rights Aliya Yunusova met with Dr. Abdulhadi Ahmad Al-Kasabi Chairperson of the Committee on Social Solidarity, Family and Disability, and Chairperson of the Egyptian Support faction and with Amira Fahmi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the Authorized Person for Human Rights stressed the importance of the main human rights reforms in Uzbekistan in recent years, including the adoption of the National Human Rights Strategy and the relevant presidential decree this year.

It was also noted that the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in our country is another important step towards ensuring the rights of people with disabilities. In this regard, the Ombudsman and his regional representatives control the procedure for creating additional conditions for people with disabilities in the presidential elections: sign language translators, Braille stencils for blind voters, a separate voting booth and other conditions.

Chairman of the Committee on Social Solidarity, Family and Disabled Persons of the House of Representatives of Egypt and the faction “Support for Egypt ”Dr. Abdulhadi Ahmad al-Kasabi also spoke about the specifics of the field of human rights protection in Egypt. According to him, the Egyptian parliament consists of two chambers, each with a human rights committee, and they pay particular attention to ensuring gender equality as a key area of human rights.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between the human rights ombudsmen of Uzbekistan and Egypt. Amira Fahmy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan, also expressed her readiness to promote cooperation between the Ombudsman institutions of the two countries.
The guests wished success for Uzbekistan's presidential election, which will be held on October 24.
